Luigi is instantly likeable, with his semi-muteness and scary demeanor, and his interaction with talkative Professor E. What sets this game apart from the get go is the presentation. After a coworker heartily recommended it to me, however, I decided to pick it up. I didn't play the original, the premise seemed too derivative, and overall I felt it would end up an oversimplified tangent to occupy 3DS owners until more big-name games are released. The games mechanics are solid though combating ghosts is never as much fun as the exploring and puzzle solving aspects. The way he cowers and creeps about nervously or just the way he says 'hello?' is so amusing. Luigi's mannerisms in this game are hilarious. Having said that the game is very good and has a lot of charm. For me this led to a lack of motivation to complete the game and is the reason it took me quite along time to finish. You could be 20-30 minutes in then you die and have to do it all again. Because dying means being sent back to the beginning of the mission and losing all your progress.
